Staff Spotlight: Brian Morris

Meet Brian Morris, DPF 4-H Camp's Director!

This is Brian's second year working with us out at the camp. Last year was his first experience with us, and he was brave enough to stick around! Brian has an extensive history with camping, as he worked for over 8 years at the North Shore Day Camp in Glen Cove, NY and at the YMCA of Greater NY in Bellerose, NY for 5 years. Additionally, Brian has volunteered and worked for over 30 years at the Town of Hempstead’s ANCHOR Program.

This past summer was Brian's first experience with sleep away camp and he told us that he really had a great experience. Him and his family had a wonderful time sharing the summer with us; taking home all of the crazy songs we sing, inside jokes, and stories from a summer full of fun and crazy beginnings! During the off season, Brian has been hard at work making plans for this summer's encampment and the organization's growth. The boys unit cabins, lodge, nurses lodge, canteen and front office all have a fresh coat of paint and stunning improved look (with girls unit soon to follow!); the winter reunion was fun filled and great time for all who braved the snow; and the wheels are in motion for new and improved programs and resources to equip the camp for a promising summer....all thanks to Brian and his handy dandy team!

So what are some of his favorite memories from this past summer? "Let's see....winning shiny pants my very first council fire with the staff. Every council fire basically, the campers and staff are so talented and it's a privilege watching them perform!"
What is he looking forward to most for this coming summer? "Getting back out there and seeing familiar faces, as well as new campers! Having everyone experience what it's like out at DPF!"

Welcome!

Welcome! The DPF 4-H Camp is a co-educational sleep away camp located in Riverhead, New York. We run for eight (8) one week sessions over the summer and have campers that range from 4th-10th grade. Located on the gorgeous Long Island Sound, we have 140 acres on our property that include the woodlands, facilities, a farm, and even our own section on the sound beach! We are composed of campers and staff from all walks of life and from all parts of the world! For more information about activities and registration, visit www.dpf4hcamp.org!

This blog was created for campers, staff, and parents to get a glimpse of the daily functioning of camp, as well as an overview and on goings of events the camp is having! Through the off season, we'll be posting about events, open houses, updates, and spotlights on specific activities and staff members that you can acquaint yourself with! During the camping season, we'll be providing overviews about the day at camp that allow parents and future campers to feel like they are really there with us!

Looking forward to sharing all of our exciting experiences with you!
